How Counselling Can Help
It is often said that choosing to seek help and support through counselling is an incredible difficult step. I agree, it can be the bravest decision, often made at the most difficult of times.
Counselling can help you explore difficulties you are experiencing in life and aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable.
Counselling is not usually giving advice, but will help you find your own insights into and give you an understanding of yourself, that will help you experience life differently.
I provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings and thoughts, in confidence and without fear of judgement.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Psychotherapy can help you discuss and explore feelings and thoughts you have about yourself and other people, including family and those close to you, troublesome habits, struggles and a wide range of mental health issues. Working together, in a safe and confidential environment you can come to have a deeper insight and understanding into the issues you are facing, make changes, find new ways of dealing with life and improve your emotional and mental well-being.
My approach is Integrative psychotherapy, where working together we can explore how your environment from the past has shaped your present way of being and find new ways of being in the present that will allow you to be yourself and realise your potential and live confidently. Integrative psychotherapy allows the therapy to be tailored to your needs and helps you find solutions that fit for you.
Developing a trusting relationship with your psychotherapist is important and will help you to talk about long-standing problems. This can take time. Depending on what you wish to gain through psychotherapy and the reason you wish to engage in psychotherapy, your sessions may need to last several months or years. If you wish to undertake psychotherapy we will meet regularly, once a week and sessions last 50 minutes.
